Corporate investigations that show their evidence
When a counterparty, a promoter or a transaction raises a question, Sapiensu investigates it across India's statutory, regulated and open records, and shows exactly what each finding rests on.
Sapiensu works from records. It does not carry out site visits, interviews or human-source inquiries; material of that kind that you supply is checked against its research and graded like any other finding.
When an investigation is needed
Most investigations start with a question someone cannot yet answer.
- A flag in diligence
- Something in a target's record does not add up and needs running down before the deal goes to committee.
- A dispute
- You need to know who the other side really is, what else they are party to, and what they hold.
- A partner or vendor
- There are signs of diversion, undisclosed interests or related-party dealing.
- A borrower under stress
- A lender needs to see charges, proceedings and connected entities before deciding what to do.
- A story in the press
- An allegation touches a business you are tied to, and you need to know whether it holds up.
Connecting the record
The findings that matter most rarely sit in one document. They sit in the links between documents: a director who appears on two boards, an address shared by unrelated companies, money that passes through an intermediary on its way somewhere else.
Take the sample on our home page. It is fictional, but its shape is common: a bidder pays a consultancy fee to an intermediary, the intermediary's partner is married to an official, and the official awarded the bidder the tender. No single record shows it. Three records together do.
For disputes and recovery, the same method traces what a company or person holds on the public record, such as stakes and directorships in other companies and the charges registered against those companies.
What you receive
Each finding comes with a confidence level, its sources marked by category (Statutory, Regulated, Open, or Supplied by you), and a note on what it means for your decision. Where the record has a gap, the finding says so and is marked Unverified rather than filled with a guess.
An investigation is the first of three modes, in order. It establishes the baseline. Surveillance then watches that baseline for change, and Analysis asks what-if questions of everything gathered.
Who it is for
- PE and VC firms
- Investment teams preparing a deal for committee, who need to know what could go wrong with a target and to keep watching it after the deal.
- M&A law firms
- Transaction, disputes and regulatory lawyers doing legal diligence on a counterparty: litigation, charges, regulatory action and beneficial ownership.
- Corporations and enterprises
- Corporate development, compliance, risk and procurement teams tracking targets and screening vendors and partners at volume.
Questions
What does an investigation start from?
A name: a company, a person or a transaction. Sapiensu builds out from it to the owners, directors, related entities, proceedings and press around it, and connects what it finds.
Can I check how a finding was reached?
Yes. Every finding lists its sources and their categories, and every step of the investigation is recorded in an audit trail.
Can I see Sapiensu in action?
Yes. Sapiensu is available to demo. Request one below and we will reach out to schedule it.
